| Register NOW for After School Program - Monday, August 01, 2011The Brookside Boys & Girls Club is now registering for the After School Program. We serve children ages 6-18 (you must join before you turn 13). Cost is $65 per semester and our hours are 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Our core areas of focus are character & leadersip, education & career, health & life skills, the arts, and sports & recreation. We offer homework and tutoring assistance daily, intramural sports and game rooms stocked with video games, pool tables and much more. Call 674-7324 or come by for more information |
| Teens volunteer at Brookside Community Work Day - Saturday, April 10, 2010Thanks to the Teen Group of Brookside who volunteered Saturday, April 10 at the Brookside Work Day. The day was spent painting the museum at city hall and planting flowers and shrubs. Thanks to all our kids for giving up part of their Saturday to help their community. |
| Youth of the Month for March 2010 - Friday, February 12, 2010Congratulations to Dylan Roper, the April Youth of the Month. Dylan is a fourth grader at Brookville Elementary School. He is an excellent student and a fine young man. We are so proud of the character and positive attitude he displays every day. |
| Christmas Party!!!! - Tuesday, December 22, 2009The Brookside BGC Christmas Party was held Dec. 19 and included a visit from Santa and our friends from Cub Scout Troop #714. Troop #714 was the sponsor of the party and surprised our kids with new book shelves, hundreds of books, school supplies and new storage racks for the members book bags. They also provided entertainment, arts & crafts, great food and pictures with Santa. We are so grateful for their generosity and support of our Club. Thanks Troop #714!!!!!!! (Check out photos)

| Graysville Women's Group Visits Club - Wednesday, December 16, 2009The Women's Group from the Graysville First Baptist Church visited the Brookside Club on Monday, Dec. 14, bringing with them goodies and Christmas cheer. The ladies brought cupcakes, ice cream and juice for all of the kids. This group of ladies has sponsored a Christmas party for club members the past two years and have provided school supplies for the kids for several years. We appreciate this group for showing our children what it means to have a giving spirit. Thank you ladies!!! |
| Fitness Club Established - Saturday, September 26, 2009Simeon's Fitness Club, a club for members ages nine and up held its first meeting on Friday, Sept. 25th. Close to thirty members stretched, exercised and played games designed to teach them the importance of being active and healthy. The Club is the brainchild of counselor, Simeon Williams. He is very active and works to stay physically fit by boxing and working out with weights. He has developed a program that will teach our members how to exercise, eat healthy and develop their own healthy lifestyle. Simeon's Fitness Club meets every Friday. (See photos)

| Homework Room Stays Busy - Wednesday, September 16, 2009The Homework Room has been a very busy place since our members returned to school. The homework room is staffed by our counselors and volunteers offering help and encouragement to the students. Over half of our members can be found here everyday working on their school assignments, studying or using the quiet time to read. Progress Reports are coming out next week and we know their hardwork will pay off with good grades. Way to go kids and keep up the hard work! |
| Teen Programs - Wednesday, September 16, 2009Teen nights are back! Sept. 1 the Brookside Club started the Teen Nights program for members ages 11-18. Every other Tuesday night the teens are served pizza and coke and can hang out from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This group wil serve as our peer leaders and perform community service through out the year. Please come join us! |
| Fashion Show - Saturday, August 15, 2009The last day of our Summer Program proved to be a memorable day for all of our girls. The girls got dressed up in prom and pagent gowns and put on a fashion show for the whole club to see. Please check out all of our cuties in the photo section. Thanks to Amy Gooch owner of "Cherished Memories" for her generous donation of dresses for our girls to enjoy. |
| Summer Festival 2009 - Wednesday, August 05, 2009The Brookside Summer Festival on Tuesday, August 4 was sponsored by area churches, and provided the children of Broookside with a day of food, fun and a whole host of fun activities. The water slides were the big hit of the day as over 100 BGC members soaked up the sun and the water. We are extremely grateful to all of those who contributed to this day, especially the congregations at, The Church Revived, The Church of Gardendale, Sharon Heights Baptist Church, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and Gardendale Mount Vernon.
